Congratulations to the 2024 Cronulla Senior of the Year! I announced the award to Kaye Herald of Cronulla (volunteer chair, Gymea Community Aid and Information Service) at a local morning tea for finalists and their supporters. Coalition Seniors Spokesperson Bronnie Taylor MLC joined us to celebrate the vital contribution that seniors, especially volunteers, make to our community.
The other outstanding finalists (all volunteers) are:
Dianne Batty, Kirrawee - Elouera Surf Life Saving Club, Sutherland Hospital Kiosk, local Community Fire Unit, John Franklin Christmas Luncheon.
Nick Boes, Kurnell - Adopt our Historic Drive Campaign (Captain Cook Drive), NSW RFS - Kurnell Brigade, Kurnell Progress Association, Kurnell Public School, Sutherland Shire Kurnell Tourism Strategy Working Party.

Yes. Pick a a wealthier than average person, in a wealthier than average suburb and talk about the cost of living. Did she have to forego buying an ivory backscratcher? Might be a slightly different story in other suburbs, even without leaving the wealthier-than-average shire.
