$277 MILLION ST GEORGE HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT REACHES HIGHEST POINT

I was delighted to join the Health Minister Jillian Skinner and local MPs today on top of St George Hospital’s new Acute Services Building to celebrate construction reaching its highest point.

In January, the NSW Government announced it would fast-track construction of the Acute Services Building, delivering it six months ahead of schedule with a $30 million saving to taxpayers without any reduction in the scale of the project or the clinical services delivered.

Litter doesn't wash with Surfrider Foundation

The newly formed Surfrider Foundation Cronulla branch has received a $1500 grant to help curb litter from being washed down local stormwater drains.

The grant will go towards stickers next to up to 150 drains around Cronulla with the message “NO DUMPING – DRAINS TO BAY”.

The campaign aims to remind people that stormwater drains are connected to the ocean and whatever is washed down them will affect the water quality and marine environment.

Governments can’t do all the heavy lifting. We’re grateful for the contribution of grassroots projects like this.

ENVIRONMENT AND ACCESS WORKS AT SILVER BEACH

Dune and bush restoration, a new shared pathway for pedestrians and cyclists and improved beach access will be completed at Silver Beach with a $375,000 grant from the NSW Government.

Sutherland Shire Council will also contribute $375,000 to the project.

There are already approximately 250 metres of shared path at both the eastern and western ends of Silver Beach. The middle section of 1.5km consists of dune areas, open spaces and seating, informal access tracks, viewing platforms and swimming areas.

Community invited to have its say on Kurnell and La Perouse Wharves

I welcome the release of the NSW Government’s draft feasibility study on potential new ferry wharves at Kurnell and La Perouse.

I encourage the community to comment on the study, which is now open for feedback.

The government made a commitment last year to investigate reintroducing ferry wharves at Kurnell and La Perouse.

The study investigated locations for ferry wharves and considered how they could be used.
