I’m pleased to announce the remaining funding for the proposed cliff top walk at Hungry Point Reserve, which will provide the missing pedestrian link between the Esplanade and Darook Park at Cronulla.
A grant of $4.9 million has been provided to Sutherland Shire Council through the Places to Roam stream of the NSW Government’s Open Spaces Program, bringing funding for the project to $6.9 million.
The cliff top walk around the spectacular perimeter of Hungry Point has been a community vision for many years and I am delighted that we have secured funding to deliver the project.
The Esplanade already provides amazing views for walkers and extending the path around Hungry Point to Darook Park will unlock spectacular and seldom seen views of Port Hacking.
I thank the Hungry Point Reserve Land Manager (the trust) and Sutherland Shire Council for the work they have done to prepare the walkway plans that will enable access for the community around this spectacular location while preserving he heritage and environmental values of the reserve.
The proposed suspended walkway is of lightweight construction comprising of a steel frame and fibreglass composite decking with stainless steel balustrading to certain locations. The walkway will also include staired sections, provision for seating and viewing areas with interpretive signage.
Following a community information session in Cronulla by the trust during October, plans for the walkway were put on public exhibition by Heritage NSW (as delegate of the independent Heritage Council) during October and November.
Subject to approval of the plans by the Heritage Council, construction of the walkway is planned to begin in 2023.

About time they did something. These illegal tobacco shops are paying no taxes, yet legitimate businesses have to sell products at 4x the cost of cheap cigarettes, including all taxes., excise/ gst/ income tax etc

These situation has been created by government by over taxing tobacco and virtually putting it out of reach of the average smoker the last time I looked smoking was still legal !!! This photo was taken just the other day at Woolworths !!! If these criminals can import container loads of cigarettes from overseas you can only imagine how easy it is to import hard drugs such as ice and heroin etc etc that are destroying our children’s lives !!!

We need more metro lines
Our war memorials are sacred places — built by communities, cared for by volunteers and cherished by generations.
If someone desecrates them, they should be held accountable, but we’ve seen an increase in this sort of vandalism.
When Parliament resumes, the NSW Liberals and Nationals will introduce legislation to toughen penalties.
Under the Opposition’s Bill:
✅The maximum summary penalty (ie without the need for an expensive jury trial) for damaging a war memorial will increase to $22,000 or two years imprisonment, or both (from just $4,400 and no jail option at the moment)
✅The maximum penalty for offensive or indecent conduct near a memorial will also rise to $22,000
✅Offenders will be required to pay for repairs unless there are special circumstances, so that custodians like local Councils, RSL sub-branches and not-for-profit organisations don’t have to foot the bill. ... See MoreSee Less

Great work !! Can you please also introduce legislation on this huge e-bike/scooters,fat bikes problem,to make them registered, insured and riders to have licences. Our community needs to be kept safe.
